Get ready to ride the train and celebrate the first day of passenger service, Saturday, March 5th while exploring all of the festivities the City has to offer at the new Duarte/City of Hope station.
The Duarte community is invited to mark this special occasion by attending an action filled, community street party from noon to 4:00 pm at the train station, located at the corner of Duarte Road and Highland Avenue. This “family friendly” street party features a live entertainment stage with both nationally recognized and local talent plus a fun zone with various inflatables, giant board games & dance revolution, themed crafts, “hands on” science activities, a photo booth, train rides, food trucks, pet adoption information and City of Hope’s Bloodmobile. Making a special appearance at the Metro Gold Line Duarte/City of Hope station grand opening party will be the the classic 60's folk-rock band We Five. The Grammy-nominated group will appear on the live stage as the closing act starting at 3:00 pm. Their famous hit, “When I Woke Up This Morning" is one of those phrases that can trigger a flashback for anyone who recalls the classic 60's. The group, now in its 5th decade of making musical magic, has stood the test of time—and their performance is guaranteed to delight audiences as they celebrate the opening of the Metro Gold Line.
