Podley associates Todd Hays, Margaret Garemore, Nick Frias, along with President Crystal Narramore, joined 2,000 Realtors® at the C.A.R.’s 46th Annual Leg Day in Sacramento. This year, agents were advocating for proactive solutions to the housing affordability crisis. After a meeting where Governor Jerry Brown spoke, the Realtors marched over to the State capitol. There, they met with elected officials, including Senator Anthony Portantino and Assemblyman Chris Holden.
Todd Hays currently serves as a Director for the C.A.R., and is a representative on the Local Government Forum and the Legislative Committee. This is his sixth time attending Legislative Day. “It’s truly one of the most fulfilling things I do as a Realtor,” Todd said. “It shows, in a most powerful way, the impact each of us can make at the state level.”
Crystal Narramore, Podley Properties President and C.A.R. director also attended Leg Day and is highly active in the real estate community, most recently as a featured panelist with WomenUP! at the recent REVive! conferece. “C.A.R. is a powerful voice in Sacramento due to the participation and involvement of Realtors across the State. Legislative Day has been an eye-opening experience for me to see the positive impact and influence C.A.R. has on the policies that affect our industry.”
Margaret Garemore attended Leg Day to help advocate for potential home-buyers and owners. “As the AAR 2018 President and a CAR Director, I was honored to be among so many Realtors who were willing to step up in the fight for home ownership and private property rights at Legislative Day at the state Capitol.”
This is the first year attending Leg Day for 2017 C.A.R. Rising Star, Nick Frias. “Attending the conference and marching to the Capitol was an eye-opening experience. It was exciting to see Realtors involved in the political aspect of the business and not just selling homes, and it helped me to more fully understand the importance and power that we have as agents.”
For the past 46 years, Legislative Day remains C.A.R.’s pinnacle legislative event. It gives California Realtors the opportunity to discuss real estate issues directly with their state legislators. Attending Legislative Day is not only a great investment an in agent’s business. It also provides the agents with an opportunity to hear from California’s political leaders and their state association’s leadership.
Diane Hatfield first joined the Pasadena Showcase House of the Arts (PSHA) benefit community in 2012 after visiting the Showcase House with family and friends as an annual tradition for many years, and volunteering as a docent in 2011. “I fell in love with the aspect of being involved from beginning to end. As a Realtor®, I felt this was a great way to network, give back to the community and support the various music programs that the philanthropy contributes to.” Diane served as the Tickets Co-chair for this year.
Jan Wiles volunteers with the PSHA’s Music Mobile program, just one of the many services the PSHA provides. She assists instructors from the Pasadena Conservatory of Music in introducing third grades to the sound of orchestra. The students also have the opportunity to touch and play those instruments..“It’s so rewarding to see the excitement on their faces when they make a sound on a tuba, or violin or drum. One little boy said to me after playing the violin, ‘Where would you get something like this?’ My heart melted!” Beyond the introductory information the students receive, the program serves to stimulate curiosity about music and encourage further exploration.
