The Purchase Expands the Real Estate Firm’s Geographic Reach in La Cañada, Altadena, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, and Glendora
Luxury real estate brokerage firm Deasy Penner has agreed to purchase Podley Properties, creating a Southern California network of nearly 300 sales professionals—stretching from Malibu to Palm Springs—and estimated annual sales in excess of $1.6 billion.
“We’re honored to have this opportunity,” said Mike Deasy, Chairman of Deasy Penner. “We have been looking for both the right Westside and Eastside acquisitions for a while. Not only is Podley an exceptional brokerage, with excellent agents and a great reputation, there’s also a very positive cultural alignment between our two firms.”
Deasy Penner is a lifestyle real estate brand focused on providing superior representation to their clients, service and growth opportunities for agents, as well as the ability to connect and engage with the community.
With the recent consolidation of mega-firms, being independent and entrenched in the region has allowed Deasy Penner to further differentiate itself from the competition.
“We had the opportunity to sell to many firms, but Deasy Penner was the natural choice,” stated Bill Podley, Chairman of Podley Properties. “DPP is locally owned and operated by leaders who are technologically innovative, but more importantly, understand the value of people and community.” Podley will relinquish all executive duties and voting rights, and will remain a sales agent in the new entity.
“Real estate, like many industries, is evolving rapidly with the Internet,” said George Penner, CEO of Deasy Penner. “DPP uses a people-based platform that leverages technology, not the other way around. This allows us to reach and have a meaningful dialogue with the community and our clients at a hyper-local level. Our agents are deeply involved in approximately 150 individual community-based and philanthropic organizations, from The Canyon Charter School in Santa Monica to Pasadena Heritage in the San Gabriel Valley.”
“This acquisition allows us to capitalize on the strengths of both Deasy Penner and Podley, from marketing and design capabilities, to technology platforms and continued education opportunities for the benefit of our valued agents,” Penner added.
Adam Bray-Ali, a Manager at Podley Properties said: “Many of our agents have been desiring a Westside presence with the ability to refer clients. Deasy Penner gives that ability immediately, with an agent roster consisting of incredible depth and experience.”

From the moment Stuart Brawley purchased his first home in 2002, he knew he loved Real Estate. At the time, he was in the middle of a successful career as a music producer and songwriter. He remembers loving the whole process of home buying, from the search, to the negotiations, to the paperwork.
Buying and selling your home is a deeply personal experience. Having someone on your team that gets you and understands your vision makes the difference. Stuart makes sure his clients are educated in every step of the process. In addition, he loves helping families find their dream home as much as helping sellers take the next step in their lives when it’s time to move on.
Having lived 22 years in both LA and Atladena/Pasadena communities, Stuart knows the ins and outs of the community.
As a music producer, his primary job was bringing different skills, talents and ideas together to create a cohesive vision. Working with high demand clients like Michael Jackson, Don Henley, Barbra Streisand, Aerosmith, and Celine Dion gave Stuart the experience to work well under pressure, keep a project on track and deliver a great final product. He sees Real Estate through the same lens, and his mission for each transaction is to bring a team together with one goal in mind: a happy and successful escrow.
Stuart currently lives in Altadena with his partner and his daughter, who attends Pasadena Waldorf School. He remains passionate about music, building community, and volunteers regularly to work with students at his daughter’s school helping with concerts, events and outreach.

Several Podley Properties Associates from the Pasadena and Sierra Madre offices participated in the 3rd annual REALTORS® Read Across PASadena Day. Our agents worked alongside the Pasadena Unified School District and the Pasadena Educational Foundation in participating in this wonderful program. It takes place each year on Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The participating realtors picked the books to read to K-3rd graders at schools across the PUSD.
Each of our offices is working to raise $500.00. This money will be used to buy one book for each 2nd grader in the district. At the end of the school year, the books will be given out by the participating realtors. The program also provides books to the Door of Hope, a program serving homeless families in Pasadena. This drive supports the district-wide goal of every student being a fluent reader by the end of third grade.
Podley Properties is exceptionally proud to participate in Read Across PASadena Day, and to see the kids’ excitement about their new books. As Dr. Seuss’s character The Lorax says, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
Podley Properties is proud to be the 2017 market share leader for representing both buyers and sellers in the Sierra Madre market. Our associates take pride in knowing and being a part of this wonderful community, and we look forward to continuing to provide exceptional service!
