Podley Properties Agents Give Back by Reading Across PASadena

 Read Across PASadena - Main
March 2nd, 2018

Several Podley Properties Associates from the Pasadena and Sierra Madre offices participated in the 3rd annual REALTORS® Read Across PASadena Day. Our agents worked alongside the Pasadena Unified School District and the Pasadena Educational Foundation in participating in this wonderful program. It takes place each year on Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The participating realtors picked the books to read to K-3rd graders at schools across the PUSD.

Each of our offices is working to raise $500.00. This money will be used to buy one book for each 2nd grader in the district. At the end of the school year, the books will be given out by the participating realtors.
The program also provides books to the Door of Hope, a program serving homeless families in Pasadena. This drive supports the district-wide goal of every student being a fluent reader by the end of third grade.

Podley Properties is exceptionally proud to participate in Read Across PASadena Day, and to see the kids’ excitement about their new books. As Dr. Seuss’s character The Lorax says, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

Highlights from the 2018 Rose Parade

2018 Rose Parade

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE UNRIVALED CELEBRATION

The 2018 Rose Parade took place on January 1st, with the theme “Making a Difference.” This year’s parade marks the 129th Rose Parade, and featured live performances from Earth, Wind & Fire, Andy Grammer and Todrick Hall, local dancing and marching bands, and, of course, the parade floats! Below are some of the highlights of the unrivaled celebration, including members of the Podley Properties family.

.

.
Bill Podley and Family Ride Through the Parade on the Valley Hunt Club’s Horse-Drawn Carriage

Did you know… The Valley Hunt Club originated the Rose Parade in 1890. Memorabilia of the time show that it was a “Tournament of Roses” — the name being coined by Charles F. Holder and inspired by the flower festival at Nice and pre-Lenten “War of the Roses” in Rome. The Valley Hunt Club has been an annual participant since 1983.

.
Sierra Madre Rose Float Association wins the Fantasy Award with “Chivalry!”

2018 Rose Parade - Sierra Madre

Fun Fact: Sierra Madre is the smallest city to enter a float in the parade. The volunteers comes together to self-build and self-fund the annual float creation. A Rose blossom tree graces the front of the float. A First Aid kit is being used by young boy standing on a parapet to bandage a lady dragon’s paw.

.
.

La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Association wins the Bob Hope Humor Award for the most whimsical and amusing float with “PandaMonium.”
